WHAT CHANGES: PEOPLE OR CIRCUMSTANCES

One school of thought is people don't really change, circumstances bring out their true character including those they try very well to conceal. Another school of thought is circumstances change and humans respond or adjust based on who they are; their character et cetera. Different people experiencing the same circumstance will respond differently. They may not be changing their character, they may only be responding to changing circumstances.

But seriously from the perspective of scripture we are constantly being transformed by the Infallible WORD OF GOD until we attain that perfection as Christ. I don't want to preach but the fact is, what makes each one of us different and unique is our SOUL.

Our spirit man is in the image of God. Our outer man is our Body which is our temporary abode here on earth.

The SOUL is made up of your emotions, will and mind:

Mind - The power to think.

Will - The power to decide.

Emotions - The origin of your mood: happy or sad.

When we are born again it's only our spirit, inner man or the real you that's born again.

Our body remains the same until the rapture.

Our SOUL remains the same at the new birth. Your will is contrary to the WORD OF GOD.

Your mind referring to your choices or decisions are contrary to the WORD OF GOD.

Your emotions fluctuate premised on your environment which is not the character of God. Because in the presence of God there is fullness of JOY 24/7.

NOW, our SOUL determines our individual personality in that we have different levels of emotional endurance premised on the make up of our individual emotions. Likewise our choices and thought life.

But this part of us that is our SOUL must conform to the nature of God and this is not an event. It is a process until Christ comes or it ends for the individual at death.

What happens if you read Romans 12 is that we are constantly metamorphisized in becoming like Christ. The more of the WORD OF GOD we have the better we become.

Romans 12:1 & 2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

KJV

So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
