LIFESTYLE LIFE CHOICES
Just returned from routine early morning walk, 0630 - 0800hrs Addis time, which is 0330-0500hrs GMT.
You can see from the picture it is early in the morning and very cold in Addis. Addis lies at *an elevation of 2,355 metres (7,726 ft)* and is a grassland biome, located at 9°1′48″N 38°44′24″E. *So you can imagine walking and scaling uphill and going downhill.*
The average temperature in Addis Ababa in September for a typical day ranges from a high *21°C to a low of 11°C.* As at the time I set off it was 12°C.
I round up the 1 hour 30mins walk (Sun - Sat) with push-ups, skipping, stretching, sit-ups and a cup of water and fruits.
In fact the Orthopedic Surgeon was arround to supervise the stretching exercise. There was an ambulance on standby though. 😊
Those who carrying those beer-laden pot belly inbox me for the secret to deal with that. I will show you my six-pack tommy in my next picture. *Just 9 months and I have burnt about 20kg plus.* What will it be like after my duty tour?
*Consistency* is the operative word in loosing or keeping your weight in check *and living a healthy life.*
I hope you made that important decision yesterday to *change your lifestyle.*
The focus or emphasis of my training is *deliberate consistency*; just as you sleep and wake everyday, eat everyday, drink water everyday et cetera exercising everyday *MUST* be your daily routine. Today for instance when I set off it was raining. So rain is not an obstacle. *You train everyday, everywhere NO MATTER WHAT.* I was in Cape Town a couple of weeks ago and I was in the gym on the treadmill *(1 hour on the treadmill)* because the weather was still dark as at 0630hrs (0430hrs GMT). So, *nothing, absolutely nothing should stop your routine exercise.*
You set *targets that you can do everyday for the rest of hour life.* That's why I am recommending walking. If you can walk 1 hour, 2km, push up, skip, sit up et cetera *you know yourself so no one can decide that for you.*
I mentioned drinking a cup of water. It's a cup of *WARM* water on empty stomach everyday after my morning exercise. I wait for anout an hour before eating my fruits. Those with pot belly take note; a cup of *WARM* water on empty stomach and wait until an hour before breakfast. Please tske note, not tea cup size. The cup *I use, takes a regular size medium plastic water bottle, so its a bottle of warm water.*
In addition *I check my blood pressure regularly.* It use to be daily to observe the pattern. But now it is stable and normal so twice a week. I bought a
*sphygmomanometer for this purpose.* Abstaining from a couple of bottles of beer or hard liquor can sum up to a savings to buy one. I am teetotaler. Please *moderation is the key for everything including food and alcohol.*
This brings me to my next advice. *Living a healthy life is not an event; it's a lifestyle.* This goes to those who genetically are smallish or skinny *DO NOT* presume it is only those who are genetically fat or have big and tall frame requires a lifestyle of exercise. Wait until *you have to run due to immediate threat in your environment or have to take up an appointment which requires undergoing a medical check up then you will know you are a moving sick person.*
This message is not to prevent or delay death *but to be in good health. Good health by extension will givevyou a happy and long life.*
Why am I sharing this? *It is to encourage all of us. To inspire us, that it is doable.*
Well life choices, the choice is yours.
Favour is ours
Favour is ours
Favour is really ours
God bless you.
