GETTING IT RIGHT
There's a way of life that looks harmless enough;
look again—it leads straight to hell.
Sure, those people appear to be having a good time,
but all that laughter will end in heartbreak.
Proverbs 14:12-13
There is no known society on earth that one can do whatever he or she so wishes. There are rules, procedures, norms, restrictions et cetera. The totality of these DOs, DON'Ts, HOW and sometimes WHY informs the values of the specific society.
I have always maintained that anyone (no matter the person's sex, age, education, profession, colour of skin, height, weight and all other distinctive features) who thinks, say or acts in a manner to the extent that others have the reason to believe that, that person seem by utterances, actions and inactions to be saying 'IT IS MY LIFE, AND I CAN LIVE IT THE WAY I WANTED' must be immediately arrested and quarantined.
Such a person is a threat to himself or herself, spouse, parents, siblings, friends and society at large.
It is to forestall this individualistic deviant behaviour that society thought it wise to have a value system to regulate the conduct of its members.
Although it is the sole prerogative of the Holy Spirit in the conviction of the human spirit the individual has a choice to yield and continue yielding to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Hence if out of your own volition you choose to belong to the Kingdom of God please note that there are Kingdom principles, values and norms. There is a Kingdom Culture that determines for instance how the marriage union should be established and lived.
There is no known secular school formal or informal that teaches how to be a husband, wife and how to raise children. All that parents, siblings, friends and society expects is that you are to get married and have children. These children must grow and also get married and have children and the tradition goes on. However in the pursuit of continuing the institution of marriage as Christians there is the need to found it on the value system as espoused by the WORD OF GOD.
Unfortunately instead of consulting the WORD OF GOD couples are stressed up grappling with being a husband, wife, father, wife, a sibling, a member of the Body of Christ, old school association, professional association et cetera. Parents are caught up in challenges in raising the next generation to take over from where they will leave. They are consulting their own feelings and perceptions, parents, siblings, friends, colleagues, books premised on worldly values et cetera on how to contract and live this all important institution.
We owe it a duty as the contemporary husbands, wives, fathers and mothers to live a legacy for our children. Posterity will not bear good witness of us if we allow our children to repeat the mistakes we made so long as relationship with the opposite sex is concerned both outside and within the holy confines of marriage.
The following are some scripture provisions concerning the institution of marriage:

He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
1 Corinthians 7:1-40 ESV / 107 helpful votes
Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. ...

And you shall not bring sin upon the land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance.

1 Corinthians 7:12-15 ESV / 71 helpful votes
To the rest I say (I, not the Lord) that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he should not divorce her. If any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband is made holy because of his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy because of her husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy. But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so. In such cases the brother or sister is not enslaved. God has called you to peace.

The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? ...

Or do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives? For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage. Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress.
