There is the Perfect Will of God and the Permissible Will of God.
The Perfect Will of God is what He wills for you. He has predestined you to be a success and that will follow a predestined path and process.
The Permissible Will of God is what He allows or permits you to do because you insisted or chose to do and came to Him for blessings. So long as it does not cost you your salvation and it is lawful He allows it. But you cannot find fulfillment and you will not be able to fulfill His purpose for your life. For example a chamber pot was produced for a specific purpose. The designer and manufacturer of the pot had a definite purpose for its use. He or she identified a need in society and tailor-made the pot to address that challenge. However, the end user on the other hand may use the chamber pot for various uses different from its definite purpose. For instance you may dish a meal in a newly bought pot or use it to store water. The pot may be put to do these and other uses but it wouldn't have served its definite purpose.
The inference here is that the fact that you are earning a fat pay check, being able to meet your routine expenditure and responsibilities does not necessarily mean that is God’s plan for your life. You may excel in an exam and learn and practice a particular profession but that is not indicative of what God created you for.
So seek His Perfect Will for your life, not His Permissible Will.
