One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was becoming swamped, and they were in great danger.
Luke 8:22-23
The people around you may not realize what is going on with you. Some may know you have life challenges but they may not know the daily struggles. They may be unaware that you are in a storm. You may be in the midst of a storm. Some of those around you may not really understand what that means. There is a fine line when going through a storm. Oversharing can get you in trouble. The One who matters knows all about your storms. He has all the details. He wants to give you rest when the storm picks up and calm it when He sees fit.
The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement, they asked one another, “Who is this?” He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
Luke 8:24-25
Over the next few days, I ran into people at church or old friends at a local restaurant who said, “I saw you were caught in that storm.” I didn’t have to tell them. Some of them saw my name on TV, and others heard about my storm experience from someone else. The One who mattered knows every detail of your storm. You may be screaming, “Master, Master, I’m drowning.” God sees you, and He wants to not only calm your spirit but calm the storm.
Ask God to give you opportunities to share with your friends and family about the One who has given you rest even in the storm. Even when your boat (or car) is shaking, He will give you rest.
