Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?" "Yes, my son?" Abraham replied. "The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And the two of them went on together. Genesis 22:6-8
Abraham was a man of faith! I love to teach the Bible story of Abraham and Isaac. They both trusted and believed in the power of God. Have you learned the different Names of God? Let me teach you one today that you will want to remember for the rest of your life, Jehovah- Jireh.
Jehovah-Jireh compounded means "The Lord will provide." As the self-existent one, God desires to meet the needs of those He created in His own image.
My prayer today is that you and I will become men and women of faith, like Abraham, Isaac, Noah, and Moses. These men displayed such godly character, trust, faith and obedience to their Lord God. We need to do the same as they did, in our own lives each day. Think about it, is God asking you to do something and you keep saying "no" or being disobedient? This is where you need to sell out to your Lord and be obedient by never giving up on your marriage. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of your life? Are you playing with sin and think no one knows? Jehovah sees and knows all! Are you hiding something? Cry out to the Lord, confess, repent and receive the Lord’s love and forgiveness as you turn from your sinful ways.
Our goal is that you learn more about God so that you can have a fresh revelation of His character and power when you are going through a family crisis or other trial in your life. I know that you may be facing rejection, abandonment, emotional pain, a financial crisis, fear for the future, court battles or you may even have a physical illness come upon you or one of your loved ones.
Jehovah-Jireh’s name speaks of provision. Our Lord will reveal to you everything you need to do to obey Him. When you obey Him, He will see to it that you are provided with all the power, strength, faith, hope, grace and mercy to be able to go through your circumstances.
God sees your day-to-day needs. Believe and stand on the promises of God.
“…For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.” Matthew 6:8.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me…And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:13, 19.
Let me share another Bible story that you may recall. God spoke to Elijah, giving him an assignment to tell King Ahab there would be no dew nor rain for the next few years. God told Elijah to hide in the Keirth Ravine. Then Jehovah-Jireh fed Elijah with food brought by ravens and he drank water from the brooks. (Read 1 Kings 17:1-6.) The Holy Spirit will provide you with all that you need, by you knowing, trusting, believing and obeying His Word.
Jehovah-Jireh will also protect you by providing for you supernaturally. Remember the Bible stories in the Old Testament about the fiery furnace in Daniel 3:22-30, about Daniel in the lion’s den in Daniel 6:13-24, and Jonah and the great fish in Jonah 1:17. God will protect and provide for you supernaturally IF you will surrender and trust Jehovah-Jireh!
Do you trust God to be your provider? Let me share a powerful scripture of how God provided. Will you start to believe that God can provide for you?
As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food." Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." "We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish," they answered. "Bring them here to me," he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketsful of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children. Matthew 14:15-21
God is faithful to His obedient children. I pray that you will seek to know your Jehovah-Jireh better today. Never doubt God. He is your Heavenly Father. He can bring favour and success with you in your employment or for a new job. Nothing is too hard for the Lord, including healing and restoring your marriage. Pray that God will provide and bless you, your spouse, your children, loved ones, employer, co-workers, your finances and your entire life. "Thank You, Lord for being our Jehovah-Jireh."
