'He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.'
Proverbs 10:9
Bible tells us in Genesis 1:26-27 that God created us in His image and likeness. Man (generic) before the fall was wired to to be honest living with high moral values.
However, it is in the nature of fallen man to be dishonest. Fallen man lacks integrity and is inclined to cheat in every facet of life. Let's examine integrity and sex.
Bible says in 1 Corinthians 7 that,
1
'Now, getting down to the questions you asked in your letter to me. First,
"Is it a good thing to have sexual relations?"
2-6
Certainly—but only within a certain context. It's good for a man to have a wife, and for a woman to have a husband. Sexual drives are strong, but marriage is strong enough to contain them and provide for a balanced and fulfilling sexual life in a world of sexual disorder. '
So, sex is allowed within a certain context. In the Kingdom Culture, the male cannot do whatever he so desires with the female and vice versa.
Bible further explains that sexual desires are so STRONG such that each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband to forestall adultery, fornication, rape, sexual promiscuity, abuse and harassment.
Having multiple sexual partners is intrinsically wired into the nature of fallen man (generic). Men boast of having had sex with a number of women. Interestingly in contemporary world of sexual disorder women too boast of how they decide and chose the man to have sex with. They sack and chose who they so desire at random.
Truth be told, illicit sex as a single or a married person involves a lot of planning and lying, a little sex and a lot of guilt. But fallen man is trapped in sin, such that having multiple sexual partners is fashionable.
It takes integrity and the ability of the Holy Spirit to walk in purity. Some Christians surprisingly have refused to yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit hence they are caught up in multiple sexual promiscuity as singles and as married persons.
In the world of sexual disorder, there are those who live with integrity and those who don’t, and interestingly they’re both rewarded. The first group lives with an abiding sense of God’s peace and security and the second group with the constant fear of being found out. ‘The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity’ Proverbs 11:3. A person with integrity is ‘complete and undivided’. They adhere to high moral principles in every area of life.
Joseph was single, far from home, and lonely, but he refused to sleep with his boss’s wife. Paul says, ‘When you are tempted, He (God the Holy Spirit) will…provide a way out so that you can endure it’ (1 Corinthians 10:13. God always has a way out, and when you’re committed to walking in integrity, He’ll reveal it to you.
Both the Christian and the non-Christian has a very high propensity to have multiple sexual partners. It takes only a man and woman of INTEGRITY and the ability of the Holy Spirit to be faithful to ONLY one sexual partner within the context of marriage.
Be Holy, the Lord your God is Holy.
