The moment you are of age and aware of the need to prepare, start. Don't wait. Start now as starting is indicative of being prepared. Some are waiting and hoping the living will wish their soul a peaceful rest after they have checked out. If that was scriptural and true then let's all have fun to please the desires of the flesh. Let's live in sin and then hire the services of prayer warriors and well wishers to wish our soul a peaceful rest after death.

As you read my post start preparing for a better life here present and hereafter after death. Both are equally important. Exercise, eat healthy food, rest, prepare for retirement, get born again and nourish your soul and spirit with the infallible Word of God.
The time to prepare to check out of this mortal body is now. Don't wait and be expecting well wishes for your soul to rest in peace. If wishes were horses beggars will ride. Start NOW - BE PREPARED. It is prudent to believe whilst alive to have the assurance of the Lord that your eternity is peaceful.
